Overview

  • The Businesswomen's Association is currently the largest association of professional and businesswomen in South Africa with a Head Office in Johannesburg and eight branches across the country.
  • Branches can be found in
    • Cape Town
    • Durban
    • East London
    • Free State & Lesotho
    • Johannesburg
    • Port Elizabeth
    • Tshwane
    • Soweto
    • Zululand
  • Each branch is manned by a full time, employed coordinator who runs the branch in conjunction with a locally elected branch committee and branch chair.

History

The BWA was formed in 2000 as the result of the merger of 3 women's organisations:

  • EWC (Executive Women's Club) The EWC started the Businesswoman of the Year Award, which is BWA's flagship event and has been running since 1980.
  • NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners)
  • PROWOLDO (Professional Women's Leadership Development Organisation)
