The AGM was followed by a presentation Vanessa Hall on Trust in Business.
Welcome
Ferose Oaten, Chairperson of the BWA welcomed all the members present. A special welcome was extended to Vanessa Hall our guest speaker. Ferose Oaten thanked the sponsors of the event:

- Noted important event dates for the month of March
- Reminded all about the RBAA Nomination call
- She told the members that the BWA Cape Town office is in desperate need of a new laptop and is looking for a sponsor

Voting Strength
Ferose Oaten established the voting strength, and indicated that at the present time, the BWA Cape Town paid membership is 296, 15% was required for a quorum. We have 44 ladies present which meant that the quorum has been established.

Chair Report
Full document was handed to the members present. SUMMARY POINTS:
- Thank you to Yvonne Finch for her driving force behind the Mentorship program, she has done a phenomenal job
- Book club is a wonderful event and has grown from strength in the last 2 years - thanks to Anneline and Phumeza
- Second issue of the “new” BWA magazine should be received in the post this week
- She told members that if they did not receive the magazine, they should contact Caryn or Cheryl at the office to update their contact details
- Ferose introduced the committee and thanked them for volunteering and for their hard work
- Thanks to PWC and ENS for their on going support
- Thanks you to Cheryl and Caryn
- At the next committee Ferose will step down and thanked the BWA for their support and the opportunity to serve and be part of the phenomenal organisation
- List of events will give new members an idea of what they can expect from our event calendars
- BWA Charity lunch raised money for the Orphan Care Foundation – R8700.00
- R12 000.00 for the bursary for 2010 post graduate studies was raised at the 2009 RBAA Gala dinner
The Chair Report was proposed for adoption by Truida Prekel and Seconded by Jane Notten.
Treasurer report
The report was presented by Nina Joubert, and she said that the report was unaudited, and that the auditors are currently completing the Head Office audit. The audited financials would therefore be presented at the National AGM at the end of March, and would then be available to all members.

The report was proposed for adoption by Phumeza Mgxashe and seconded by Gita Lison.
Committee for 2009 - 2010
Ferose Oaten explained that 12 women may serve on the BWA committee, and that 2 would be stepping down after serving for 4 years. In addition, there are 4 more vacancies. Nominations had already been received for:
- Marion De Wet
- Janine Nel
- Tess Rodrigues
- Nicole Capper
The house accepted all 4 new committee members. Ferose asked the new members to briefly introduce themselves.
The adoption of the new committee members was proposed by Caroline Mack and seconded by Jenna Monk.
General
Ferose gave an overview of the BWA Power lunch and encouraged BWA members to forge new connections and to build lasting relationships for the future.
Closure
The official proceedings of the AGM ended at 18h10 and the presentation by Vanessa Hall was introduced.
Thanks
After the presentations, Nina Joubert paid tribute and thanked Vanessa Hall on behalf of the BWA. She concluded the proceedings by thanking the members for their support and attendance.
Notes
Nina Joubert paid special thanks and tribute to Ferose Oaten who has been an outstanding leader and ambassador of the BWA and has given 100% of herself and her time to serve the BWA and we all thank Ferose for this.
