- ‘THE MOD LOOK’ : the style of clothing
is clean cut and predominantly block colours dating back to
Twiggy days. Colour choice is key. Think bright - fuchsia, orange,
yellow, purple and coral. This portrays a confident and powerful
impression.
- LACE : wear on its own for a softer look,
or mix and match with leather to create a balance between femininity
and power.
- PAISLEY PRINT INFLUENCE: this is very on-trend
at the moment. Wear it as a top, or a dress with opaque tights
and ankle boots. Simplify the look by avoiding other prints.
- GILET : (short fur waist-coat) – this forms
part of ‘the layered look’ over a long t-shirt or blouse. Should
be worn over a long-sleeve top. Tighten the waistline with a
belt to enhance the hourglass effect.
- BLOUS : soft and sheer fabrics like chiffon,
silk, satin, with ruffles, billowing sleeves and the famous
‘pussy bow’ style. To really ‘power up’ the look, wear with
black wide-leg trousers, or for a more relaxed look, try it
with a pair of jeans that suit your body shape best.
- TRENCH COAT : this is a ‘must have item’.
Dress it up for work, or down for a more casual look. Don’t
forget to enhance the look by using a broad belt to cinch in
the waistline. This season try trench coats in purple, turquoise
or your basic black. Remember to choose the right cut and length
to flatter your body shape.
- STAPLE T-SHIRT : invest in long-sleeve
t-shirts as a base for your Winter wardrobe. Good basic colour
choices are Navy, gray, the ever-faithful black, or crisp white.
Choose the correct neckline (v-neck to minimise large breasts,
and a round neck to make small breasts look fuller). Remember
that a lower cut will elongate your neckline. This long-sleeve
t-shirt is a perfect compliment to the layered look, taking
you from Summer to Winter.
- BOOTS : here you can really personalize
your style with the choice of your boots. All heel sizes are
in fashion, including flats, stilettos and stacked/platform
heels. Various lengths of boots will work, but pay particular
attention to the must-have ankle boot.
- ACCESSORIES : pile on the bangles, bracelets,
and cuffs (if you dare!). A nice, chunky ring will not go amiss
either, but keep the rest of the look clean and make sure your
accessories compliment your look. For the truly brave, add a
trilby or wide-rimmed felt hat in teal, aubergine, black or
camel!
- TIGHTS : stock up on opaque tights in any
of the seasonal colours, to pull the whole look together.
