Members of the BWA in Cape Town, and their guests, raised a whopping R20 000.00 for charity with the beneficiary being Mama Afrika Ithemba, at the Vineyard Hotel, Claremont on Thursday.
Sponsors of lucky draw prizes gave generously, allowing members and guests to go home with wonderful prizes.
Christina Pika, who is also fondly called Mama Afrika, spoke from her heart and said that their organization is making a real difference to women and children in the community.
- They train and develop the community and help in motivating victims affected by violence, doing outreach, offering pastoral counseling to young and old.
- Prison outreach through restorative pastoral counseling (at Pollsmoor)
- Offer mediation between parents and children
- They have helped created jobs for more than 100 young and old to transform their lives
- Empower ex-prisoners with economic skills e.g. sewing, beading and pottery
- Offered spiritual upliftment to ex-convicts that have been involved in violent crimes
BWA members also ensured that the 200 kids benefiting from Mama Afrika Ithemba each received toys and goodies for Christmas. Christina was overjoyed by the reaction of the BWA to her life?s mission.
We extend a warm thank you to all our members, guests & sponsors!
