Review: Margaret Kruger, BWA Vice Chairperson

"Deloitte and BWA have invested in us, as women, to acknowledge and recognise a women's place in society."
Quote from a learner who attended Winning in the Workplace 2004.

The BWA motto is "To inspire and grow all women in business" and what a better forum to initiate this process than the Workshop, Winning in the Workplace. On Women's Day 150 grade 12 learners and 30 teachers representing schools from the greater Durban area, were provided with information and life experiences on how to cope in the business world. Once again we were able to source a strong line up of speakers, many of whom where drawn from within the ranks of BWA, who covered topics including:
- What to do when I leave school
- Gender relationships
- Management of money and lifestyles
The keynote speaker was Ina Cronje, the KZN MEC for Education.

An event of this nature is reliant upon the commitment of the team of organisers and the generosity of our sponsors, and I have to take this opportunity to thank those who gave of their time / products / guidance and contributed to making this day a memorable occassion in the lives of the attendees.
The winning essay was written by Ramona Latchmiah, Southlands Secondary School, who received computer training valued at R 80 000.00 from New Horizons Computer Training.

Winning in the Workplace has proved itself to be a winning formula and our intention is to grow it even further next year, and possibly hold similar events in other areas in the province. Those of you who are interested in being part of this process, should please contact Nicole Anne, so that when the time comes to re-establish the committees, we already have a database from which to draw.
