BWA ANNUAL VALENTINES MASKED BALL – 13 FEBRUARY 2009

This event was a huge success and the feedback from this event was very praising we had 70 guests o which 6 companies took tables for their staff. We had our former Municipal Manager who is also an author as our guest speaker who gave some of his books out as lucky draw prizes. The entertainment was also very good as everyone danced the night away. We had lots of lucky draw prizes so every table got a gift. This event was covered by one of our local News Papers so we had great media coverage.

Nedbank Budget Review - 22 Feb 2009

This event was well attended and the feedback from this event was very good considering we did not have a budget review in 2008. Nedbank was very pleased with the outcome and the BWA made good contacts. This event was attended by mostly men and the few ladies that did attend were existing members. Nedbank sponsored the venue and the event went off very well.

Monthly Networking Functions

The idea behind the networking function is to invite or introduce potential members to the organization. These functions are 100% sponsored by companies that host the event and this normally takes places at the business premises of the company hosting the event. Through this the host gets free advertising and marketing and the BWA gets to meet new ladies and hopefully sign them up as members. We encourage BWA members to bring along and introduce at least 1 lady to each function.

Business Workshop Sponsored By Deloitte - 6 May 2010

This event was sponsored by Deloitte & Touché who is partnering with the BWA for the 2nd time. This event was very well attended as the topic of discussions was of great significance. Deloitte is very happy to partner with the BWA annually to host a workshop of a similar nature.

RBAA 2009 - 26 June 2009

This function was attended by 150 guests and the media coverage we got from one of our smaller media outlets the Eastern Cape Today surrounding this event was spectacular. The Eastern Cape Today showcased all our finalists before the event and they will be doing a full spread of the winners and the actual Gala dinner. The feedback from this event was absolutely great as everyone who attended the event were so pleased by the professional standard of this event, even Nedbank congratulated us on a job well done. As usual sponsorship was a challenge for us but we managed to rise above and work with what we had. We have made very good contacts through this event namely Businessconnexion and Spar Head Office. We have decided to invite the finalists to join the BWA committee as co-opted members for the remainder of the year. We have also encouraged the companies to sign up group memberships for their employees to be able to grow and expand the caliber of members we have in our region. Through this event we have made good contacts and signed up some members in the Mthatha area and through a partnership with Spar we are confident that we will be hosting our first ever function in the area and hopefully if everything goes as planned we will be hosting more functions in the are as the demand is great the only challenge is sponsorship. We have also decided to have a RBAA road show as our winners come from different areas in our region and this will be funded by the companies that the winner belong to.

ECDC Business Breakfast - 7 July 2009

BWOYA ROAD SHOW - 14 October 2009

This event was attended by 90 ladies from around the Eastern Cape who all came to meet the 2009 Businesswomen of the Year winner, Mrs. Venette Klein who not only stunned the audience but left them with goose bumps too. This was truly an earth moving experience for the ladies who got to meet and interact with such a phenomenal role model in our society. Absa Bank was kind enough to donate funds to the Lumko High Scholl Matric Bursary fund set aside to help the matric students from this rural school to be able to register for their matric exams. This bursary was welcomed and accepted by some of the students who were able to attend the function on the day.
