BWOYA Road Show

Date: 10 October 2008
Venue: President Hotel, Union Avenue

On the 10th of October we had a luncheon with our 2008 Businesswomen of the Year award winners. It was a lovely inspirational function. The food was great and we had lovely raffle prizes: two Swarovski crystal jewellery sets sponsored by Kristal. The two business women of the year were very inspiring. The BWA President and ex-CEO were also present.

The water on the tables was sponsored by Overland Liquors.

One of our guests, Girly, whose attendance fee was sponsored by a committee member, addressed the audience. She is a teacher at an underprivileged township school and she shared a few of their stories with us and touched the hearts of the attendees.

WINNER’S BREAKFAST

Venue: The Terace at Oliewen Huis

This function was a great success and was held on the veranda at Oliewen Huis. The main purpose of this event was to spoil and celebrate our RBAA winners. Everyone enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast, while being addressed by two of our RBAA winners: Lizette Henning (winner in the corporate category) and Emile Morkel (winner in the professional category).  These ladies left us all inspired.

Venue: President Hotel, Union Avenue

Our 2008 RBAA was a great success. Over 150 guests attended. There was a delicious buffet and wonderful entertainment in the form of singers and dancers. Tim Thabethe (OFM Radio Presenter) was our Master of Ceremonies and our CEO, who also attended, addressed the guests.  An exceptional DVD was made of all our finalists by Des Janse van Rensburg and was played at the event.

There was also a raffle draw with wonderful prizes sponsored by Krisal. The water on the tables was sponsored by Overland Liquors and the wine was sponsored by Dr. Jopie van Rooyen (BWA committee member).

Gifts for all the guests and flowers for all the winners were sponsored by Nedbank.

BWA PRESENTATION TO WOMEN GROUP AT CHURCH IN HEIDEDAL

Date: 5 July 2008
Venue: Church in Heidedaal

Our BWA Chairperson presented the BWA to the above mentioned Women’s group and also a motivational presentation. She was assisted by a committee member: Doll Mahatanya. There was electrical interest in the BWA at this function and all were inspired by the energy.

PRICE WATERHOUSE COOPERS FUNCTION

Venue: Price Waterhouse Coopers

On the 31st of May 2008, Price Waterhouse Coopers hosted a function for the BWA on their premises. Two very dynamic speakers spoke at this function: Hesna Reeder (a tax consultant) and Mr Werner Landman (Marketing Manager at Price Waterhouse Coopers).

A raffle draw also took place at this function.

MOTIVATIONAL TALK BY ROSALINE SEBOLAO

Venue: President Hotel, union Avenue

On the 21st of May 2008 we had a presentation at the President Hotel in Bloemfontein, by Rosaline Sebolao, who spoke on Womanhood and Motherhood.

KRISTAL, a shop selling Swarovski crystals/jewellery, was allowed to exhibit their products at a R500.00 (Five Hundred Rand) exhibition space price. Every guest was also given Swarovski crystal cell phone charms as gifts. A raffle took place where Swarovski crystal jewellery and a Gucci bag was won (all sponsored gifts).

BUSINESS SKILLS WORKSHOP

Date:  17 April 2008
Venue: President Hotel, Union Avenue

We had a Business Skills Workshop on the 17th of April 2008. The workshop was presented (power-point) by Prof. Rudolph van Buuren, Head of the Department of Business at the University of the Free State. This was a very professional and informative presentation.

The function was attended by 80 guests, who complimented the BWA on this very successful and popular function.

SHORT PRESENTATION AT PRICE WATERHOUSE COOPERS

Venue: Price Waterhouse Coopers

On 4 April 2008 we had a presentation at Price Waterhouse Coopers during their lunch break. We presented the BWA to the staff and gave BWA brochures and magazines to the attendees. Our chairperson, Vasoula Patrinos addressed the ladies and answered questions. She was assisted by the Vice-Chair, Annette Weyers and the coordinator, Despina.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Date: 29 February 2008
Venue: Nedbank

The venue for our AGM was kindly provided by Nedbank.  27 members were present and there were 2 proxy forms so a quorum was present and the correct voting strength could be established.  The chair report was presented and included an overview of successes of the year’s activities and functions and thanks was expressed to all sponsors especially the primary / diamond sponsor of the BWA, Nedbank, and also committee members and members.  The challenges and the way forward for 2008 were discussed and this included some community upliftment projects for 2008.  Our Treasurer, Ansa Terblanche, delivered the treasurer’s report and indicated that the branch’s income grew by 88% over the past year.  Voting for nominees for the committee was conducted by means of casting of ballots.Â

NATIONAL BUDGET 2008 ANALYSIS

Date: 7 February 2008
Venue: President Hotel, Union Avenue

At this event we had 59 guests present.  This was an exceptionally informative function and we were lucky to have the Senior Economist of the Nedbank Economic Unit, Mrs. Nicky Weimar, presenting a breakdown of the National Budget to our guests.Â
Our guests had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the economic future of the country and also other relevant questions.  A delicious lunch was served at our venue, the President Hotel.
The flowers on the tables were sponsored by Izami Florists and the still and sparkling water on the tables were sponsored by Delta Bottle Store.
