CSI report 2008 from Pauline King - Port Elizabeth

In 2007 we looked for a NGO to work with the Businesswomen’s Association we adopted the Oliver Foundation and have worked with them through out the year.

We arranged that our members bought a Christmas gift valued R 30.00.

Our member gave generously in 2007 we gave gift for 75 children with a small sweetie bag.

In 2008 we have  40 children thank you to Roxanne Titus who gave so generously all the children goodie bags , we arrange a Father Christmas each year and this went down every well as some children had never seen a Father Christmas.

The Businesswomen’s Association where invited by FAMSA (Family and Marriage Society of South Africa) and many other organisations where invited to a presentation and seek the support in developing a collective solution to the problems faced by Families in the Nelson Mandela area.

The points on the presentation where:
1. The concern on the level of functionality and disintegration of the family unit.
2. Unity is strength - no one organisation or structure will be able to address this issue.
3. The passion to see the Mandela Bay repositioned as THE FAMILY FRIENDLY CITY.

2006

BWA PE undertook "Adopt a Police Station" with Goodyear (Corporate group members to PE)

PE adopted Walmer Station. We were inundated with offers of help from our members. They supplied curtains, soft furnishing, mirrors, pictures and dart board for the Police recreation room.

Charmaine Wilkie, Ibhayi Scaffolding, supplied the scaffolding and labour to paint the outside of the station. We were filmed for SABC and it was aired on Friday, 8 August at 6.55am on Morning Live. Included in the filming were Michelle Brown, Carol Allan, Goodyear and Charmaine Wilkie, Ibhayi Scaffolding.

We are looking to help with Walmer Township Station soon. Our thanks to our PE Membership for their help & support with this project
