Mr. Womarld, Senior partner at Charteris and Barnes gave our members a Financial Workshop on how to manage ones finances and how one can document their spending in their business, how to respond to SARS, tax and UIF reqirements.
As this was done during the period of the World Cup you can imagine the festive atmosphere in which this all took place.
Members not only recieved financial education that day but at the end of it all the members got to learn the famous "Disky dance"
and as they pranced, left foot over right, some bumping into each other, all agreed that the evening had been a huge educationalexperience.

Social Responsibility-Whittlesea Orphanage Christmast Gifts

23 December 2011
Whittlesea Opharnage
Linda Ngondo

The members of the Businesswomen's Association - Queenstown branch took it upon themselves to visit one of the local orphanages. We had collected amongst ourselves and our communities, toys, clothes and little treats. Two of our members went down and presented these gifts and the smiles that were on the faces of these disadvantaged children were priceless. The Matron in charge of the children was so astonished at the vast amount of things we had brought with us that she said that they would share these with other underpriviledged children outside the orphanage as the community was filled with families who would have to go without many things that christmast. A big Thank You must be extended to the Queenstown Comittee for all the effort they put in collecting these items. Many children in South Africa have to go without most of the things that most of our children consider "old" and this was a good lesson even to them that giving to the less fortunate yields great rewards.

Celebrating Our Mothers - Networking Event

20 May 2011
Shandraan's Guest House
Linda Ngondo

As a woman, alot depends on our lives being mentally, physically and emotionally balanced. Sadly for most of us, this is not so as we struggle to keep the balance between work and family. Dr. Thandi Godlo-Salman was the Guest Speaker at this event and here she shared with us the importance of our roles as women, how important it was that we kept giving of ourselves but also to take time to replenish our seemingly infinite supplies of wisdom and love. Many mothers turned up, some whom were converted to members and we knew that this is a standing issue that affects all mothers worldwide and we were glad that we could atleast touch on the tip
of it and try to give our mothers what inspiration and motivation we could.

Take a girl child to work day intiative

The Businesswomen's Association partook in the “Annual Take a girl Child to work” campaign. The purpose of this
initiative is to deepen the thinking of the girl child with regard to their infinite roles in society,
to enhance her self-esteem, inspire and motivate her to reach her full potential through exposure to diverse careers.

Further to this, there will be a follow up “Businesswomen of tomorrow” boot – camp, which will take place during the
school holidays for the 40 girls of Nkwanca High School who participated; this is to ensure that the girls continue to be inspired, encouraged and affirmed. The camp will also address the challenges and personal issues faced by girls and equip them with life skills on how to address these issues.

We’d like to thank all the mentors that took children for the day including all the sponsors. We appreciate your willingness
to enrich and empower our young people and want you to know that all your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
